Xochitepec
The Mexican municipality of Xochitepec is located in the west of the state of Morelos at an altitude of 1,109 meters above sea level. It borders to the north with Temixco, to the south with Puente de Ixtla, to the east with Emiliano Zapata and Tlaltizapán and to the west with Miacatlán. The total area of Xochitepec is 99.13 square kilometers.
The name Xōchitepēc 'on the flowery hill' comes from the words of the Nahuatl language, xōchi- 'flower', tepē- 'hill' and -c 'on'. After having an indigenous culture of great splendor settled in the Cerro de las Flores and various places in the valley due to the constant movement of trade and the political interests of the same colony, it gradually disappeared until it became a town that provided services, as well as the trade that developed in the port of Acapulco gave rise to the route that goes from Mexico to Acapulco known as the Camino Real, influencing the development or disappearance of some indigenous populations.
